Google Makes $500m a Year on Typos
New Scientist reports on an analysis by Harvard researchers that suggests Google rakes in half a billion dollars annually from advertising that appears on typosquatting domains.
I’m surprised it’s this low. Google Adsense for Domains is available to all webmasters who are part of the Adsense program. Google has become probably the biggest source of advertising for the web, and domain parking pages tend to be plastered with adverts.
Also worth knowing: > Google’s total 2009 revenues were $23 billion, 97 per cent of which came from advertising.
